Nevada City was a frontier-mining, ghost town until restored as an outdoor, living historical museum with one of the largest collections of “Old West” artifacts outside of the Smithsonian. It boasts of 100 log buildings dating between 1863 and early 1900s, some of which were original city buildings and others acquired from around the state.
To me the highlight of the day was when I entered the site through the Music Hall. It contained an outstanding collection of old-time organs, player pianos, calliopes and music boxes, along with several, very unique music machines.
