9 galleriesIn February 2020, I spent 6 days on Safari in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with six other photographers from across the United States. We traversed both the Ngoronogoro and Ndutu National Parks in two safari vehicles driven by local guides and lead by Tom and Laura Mace of Tripod Travelers. Visiting this area has been a dream since I took my first adventure to Africa in 2000, and thanks to the knowledge and keen eye of our leaders and guides, it was all I had hoped for and more! One of the major advantages on going on a safari designed specifically for photographers is everyone on the safari understands the need to minimize movement and stay in a location long enough to get the photos you came to take. Hopefully my photos will give you and idea of what this area has to offer to those who want to photograph or simply observe incredible wildlife in its natural environment.

3 galleriesI have participated in a Humanitarian Trip to Uganda three times in the last five years and during two of those visits our group took a few days to take go on safari. First to Queen Elizabeth National Park in 2015 and Murchison Falls National Park in 2017. The amount and variety of wildlife we encountered was amazing. Having said that, these safaris were not photographic safaris and the concepts of the time needed and the lack of movement within the vehicle were not paramount! But, as a photographer, one does what one can to get the best photos possible under the circumstances. Regardless, I encourage both photogs and wildlife enthusiasts to visit the National Parks in Uganda, you will be delighted! Hopefully, my photos will give you an overview of the possibilities.
